What is the Math Blog All About?

The Math blog is where thoughts of how we may better teach mathematics are shared. The various math entries will encourage the analysis of math and the world around us. For instance, it is important to make connections between math and other subjects, objects and things so that students can relate to math in their own way. Any student can be a “smarty pants” in math, they just need a helping hand in understanding that math can be related to the subjects they most excel in. Why not create a story using numbers for students who enjoy English, or make a song that consists of multiplication and division for those who enjoy music? Weekly blogs divided into three sections: observation, reflection, and reflection on the first reflection made (thoughts upon reading my journal) will be posted. Along with observations and reflections on teaching strategies, the blog will be a space where I share my surprising encounters with the world of math, and what I learned during these encounters.
